Build a foundation for success in future reading.
Surround your child with language, learning, and love.
Storytime: This hour long interactive storytime is geared for preschoolers ages 3-5 and their caregivers. This program is free and open to the public. Younger siblings are always welcome to attend.
The purpose of storytime is to promote a love of books and reading, to share an appreciation of stories, to introduce the library to children and to promote lifelong use of the library. To this end, the library staff plans programs which are age appropriate and enjoyable. Each program promotes listening and other pre-reading skills through the inclusion of books and activities such as music, puppets, and crafts. Children learn group and socialization skills while having fun! While specific lessons are not “taught” at storytime, children experience a wide variety of themes and concepts through the use of age appropriate literature. Storytime is a fun and friendly place to meet and greet your neighbors. For more information, call the library at 770-487-1565, or check out our Web site at www.tyrone.org.
Baby-time/other: Please visit our “sister” libraries, Fayette County Public Library and Peachtree City Public Library for baby-time and other library activities and events.
Field Trips: Group storytime/tours are normally conducted on Monday and Tuesdays. To avoid conflict with other library programs or group visits, please schedule your visit at least two weeks in advance. It is our goal for the children to have a positive library experience and to encourage them to become life-long library patrons. For scheduling or additional information please contact Cindy Ferrill at 770-487-1565.
CAREing PAWS – The Tyrone Public Library participates in CAREing Paws, an affiliate of R.E.A.D. ® Reading Education Assistance Dogs ® program.
