River’s Alive and Earth Day Clean Up Events

The Town of Tyrone sponsors two clean-up events per year. In the spring, the Town hosts an Earth Day Clean-Up to coincide with the celebration of Earth Day. Every fall season, the Town of Tyrone and the Fayette County Environmental Management partner to hold their annual Rivers Alive Clean-Up Event. For these events, volunteers meet that morning at 9:00 am at Tyrone Town Hall, 881 Senoia Road. During this time, supplies will be distributed, a brief safety meeting will be held and liability waivers will be completed by all of the participants.

We then break up into groups and head out to clean up trash along the roadways and stream banks of Line Creek and Flat Creek, two streams that supply drinking water to our community. The segments of the stream that we will clean up are located in close proximity to Castlewood Road, Palmetto Road and Dogwood Trail. All volunteers must arrange for their own transportation to the clean-up sites. All of the participants under the age of 18 will be required to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Please join us at one of our next clean-up events in an effort to beautify one of our most valuable resources, our streams.

For any additional comments or questions regarding the next scheduled clean up event, please contact the Town’s Environmental Planning Technician, Brad Konwick, at (770) 487-4038 ext. 103 or bkonwick@tyrone.org.
